Summer Solstice - 108 Sun Salutations and Yoga Nidra
Time & Location
About the Event
Since Winter Solstice the days have been slowly growing longer, as the Earth began tilting back toward the sun.
In those darker days of winter, we were focused on a more inward intention. Physically, we wanted to be inside. Cozy & snuggled. Mentally, it was a time of dreaming, manifesting & planning.
But as the Earth started tilting back toward the sun our spirits began to wake up. We have moved out of those more inward-focused days and started stretching outward. Spring is like waking up in the morning, getting out of bed and greeting the day with a great big stretch.
At the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, we are fully awake. Our spirits are alive, refreshed, renewed, energized; all that good, juicy, rich stuff we feel in the sun.
The summer solstice is a time to acknowledge and celebrate peak moments in our life.
Solstice celebrations are one of our favourite events of the year. A time to come together and welcome the change in seasons.
This year we are offering two different ways to welcome the Summer Solstice. ~ 108 Sun Salutations at 6:00pm ($20) ~ Yoga Nidra (guided yogic sleep) at 8:00pm ($15)
Register for both celebrations for $30
108 Sun Salutations at 6:00pm (approx 1.5 hours) ~ Sun Salutations serve as mediation in movement, reducing depression, anxiety and stress while building mental focus, concentration and deep breathing. Every Sun Salutation allows us to experience devotion. We stand at attention, open ourselves up to energy, bow with respect and experience humility.
Participation in all 108 Sun Salutations in not required. The purpose of this event is to come together with community and meditate.
You're welcome to sit in child's pose or lay in savasana basking in devotional energy. No previous yoga experience is required, all levels are welcomed and encouraged.
Yoga Nidra at 8:00pm (approx 45 minutes) ~ As we move into summer (warm weather, gardening, sports, road trips, outside activities) slowing down becomes essential.
Solstice means “standing of the sun” and we can connect to this great turning point in the earth’s yearly cycle by taking a moment to stop, be still, and look back at our own unique journey.
Jeff will lead us through an extended guided deep relaxation journey (Yoga Nidra) that includes visualization to help us feel grounded and refreshed as we forge our way into summer.
(CoVid permitting all celebrations will be offered InStudio and live streamed via Zoom)
